Originally designed for those who had visited
the popular Holy Land sites and were ready for
more, this tour is now open to anyone. It takes
us from Dan to Beersheba! In Jerusalem, we'll
see many new views, but also walk again the
"Palm Sunday Rd" and re-visit Gethsemane.
We'll again tour the Galilee area, staying at lake's edge 3 nights -
but visiting sites not seen on the "Holy Land I" tour.

 
If you have been on a basic "first time" Holy Land tour,
this trip is definitely for you!
If you haven't been there but are willing to forego some of the more popular sites to see many other wonderful things,
this trip is also for you.

ITINERARY FOR HOLY LAND II

Mon, Oct 26: Our adventure begins as we depart the USA on our international flight to Israel.

Tues, Oct 27: We arrive in Tel Aviv to meet our connecting flight to Eilat where we overnight.

Wed, Oct 28: We'll begin our first morning with a drive to the border with Egypt. We'll begin our journey through the desert to Mt. Sinai, where Moses received the Commandments. On the way we'll visit Ein Houdra, a spring mentioned in the Bible during the wilderness wanderings. We'll visit a Bedouin camp, and take a jeep to the nawamis, amazing stone structures built during the wilderness wanderings. We'll end our day at the foot of Mt. Sinai.

Thurs, Oct 29: This morning, those who wish, can climb Mt.Sinai for a sunrise view. Some may want to ride a camel part of the way! After scaling the summit, we will make our way down to St. Catherine's Monastery, where a Bible from the 6th century was found. We'll continue to Eilat.

Fri, Oct 30: This morning we’ll visit the Timna copper mines where Solomon mined for copper and turquoise. We will pass the Ramon Crater on our way to Beer Sheba to visit Abraham's well.  From there we’ll go up to Jerusalem.

Sat, Oct 31: We'll begin by visiting King David's City to see remains of the First Temple from the time of David until the destruction by Nebuchadnezzar. We'll visit the Archaeological digs at the Southern Wall of the Temple. We'll see the steps of the entrance to the temple, used by millions of pilgrims, as well as by Jesus. We'll go to the Western Wall Tunnel and walk along the wall under the city streets of today. We'll follow the wall to the Antonio Fortress, where Jesus’ trial took place. We'll have time for shopping in the Cardo. 

Sun, Nov 1: This morning we'llvisit the Mount of Olives for a Panoramic View of Jerusalem! We'll walk the Palm Sunday Road to the Church of Dominus Flavit commemorating Jesus weeping over Jerusalem. We’ll continue to Gethsemane where Jesus went the night before his crucifixion. We'll have time in the garden with its ancient olive trees. We’ll walk through the Kidron Valley past Absalom's Tomb. We’ll view the Temple Corner where Jesus was tempted. We'll go to the House of Caiaphas where he was imprisoned. After dinner we'll have a church service with the local Christian Science Society.

Mon, Nov 2: This morning we'll see the synagogue with Chagall’s stained glass windows. At the Herodian Quarter we’ll see houses the way they were 2000 years ago. We'll visit the Burnt House with amazing evidence of the burning of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD. We'll see the Jerusalem Museum to see the major periods of Jerusalem from Canaanite times until today. We'll walk the ramparts of the Old City Walls from Jaffa gate to Zion gate. We'll have time for shopping in the Arab Market before returning to the hotel. 

Tues, Nov 3: Today we'll visit the Elah Valley, where David slew Goliath. We'll go to Bet Shemesh, where the stolen Ark of the Covenant was returned. We’ll visit one of the possible sites of Emmaus where Jesus met two followers after the resurrection. We'll go to Neot Kedumim, with plants and trees from the Bible times. We'll continue to Tiberias by the Sea of Galilee

Wed, Nov 4: This morning we'll drive to Chorazin a town from Jesus' time. We'll visit the eastern banks of the Jordan at Bethsaida, the town of Peter and Andrew and its archaeological dig in which Olene and Nancy participated. We'll visit a Talmudic Village and Tel Dan, a nature reserve and the beginning of one of the tributaries of the Jordan. Here we'll see a fascinating complex of gates. We'll continue to Magdala, the town of Mary Magdalene, and the Rock of Arbel, the cliff with an outstanding view of Galilee. 

Thurs, Nov 5: Today we’ ll celebrate the Morning Meal on the shore and visit Bet Shean a fascinating Roman city. Near here, the Philistines killed Saul. We’ll visit Sepphoris, the center of Jewish studies and Roman life near Jesus’ home. We’ll stop at the Spring where Gideon defeated the Midianites.

Fri, Nov 6: We’ll begin our last day of touring with a visit to the 2nd cent AD town of Beit Shearim. We'll see the cave cemetery showing burial customs of Jesus’ time. We ll continue to Caesarea by the Sea where Paul stood trial and was imprisoned 2 years. It was where Peter shared the Gospel with Cornelius. From there we'll go to the airport for our return flight.

Sat, Nov 7: We will arrive in the USA, filled with new insights and understanding of the Bible and the life and land of Jesus.
